What is known about the 2027 edition
The City Council has not yet published the 2027 programme, but the Velá has an anchor that does not move: 8 September, the day of the Virgen de la Fuensanta, co-patron saint of Córdoba and a local public holiday. In 2027 it falls on a Wednesday. In recent years the festival has begun on the Thursday or Friday before (Friday 6 in 2024, Friday 4 in 2026) and has closed on the 8th itself, so the likely start is Friday 3. What is rarely missing: the opening speech, casetas and concerts, communal tastings such as the huevá and the sardiná, the procession of the Virgin and the stalls selling little ceramic bells beside the sanctuary of El Pocito.
Getting there and what to bear in mind
The Velá is held in the streets of the Fuensanta neighbourhood, east of the old town, around the sanctuary. You can walk there from the centre in just over half an hour or take a city bus. Entry is free and it is organised by the Delegación de Fiestas y Tradiciones of Córdoba City Council, which usually presents the programme in August. The start dates we give are an estimate; the 8th is certain. On that day there are services at the sanctuary and the biggest crowds of the whole week.
