When Holy Week is in 2027

Holy Week has no fixed date: it moves each year with the liturgical calendar. In 2027 Palm Sunday falls on 21 March and Easter Sunday on the 28th. That is enough to book flights and accommodation well in advance. What has not yet been published is the detail: each brotherhood's times, the routes and the order on the official route are made public a few months beforehand, when the Agrupación de Cofradías finalises the programme. Until then, any specific time you read anywhere is last year's.

The official route, beside the Mezquita

What sets Holy Week in Córdoba apart is the setting. The official route, the carrera oficial, runs through the monumental surroundings of the Mezquita-Catedral, between the Puerta del Puente and the Triunfo de San Rafael, so you watch the floats pass in front of a World Heritage monument. Close to forty brotherhoods go out over the course of the week, each from its own church, and much of the route runs through the narrow streets of the historic centre. The festival is declared of International Tourist Interest, and on the big days it shows.

How to see it without the crush

Watching the floats in the street costs nothing; you only pay for a seat or a box on the official route, which are booked in advance. Away from that stretch it pays to move a little further out: at the departures and returns, in neighbourhoods such as Santa Marina or San Lorenzo, there are fewer people and you get a better view. The historic centre is closed to traffic for hours, so the practical thing is to leave the car outside and get around on foot. And bring something warm, because March nights in Córdoba turn chilly.

Where to stay and what to book in advance

Holy Week is one of the dates when accommodation in the historic centre sells out soonest, especially in the Judería and around the Mezquita. Anyone who wants to sleep in the centre needs to book months ahead; staying a little further out is usually considerably cheaper and is still within walking distance. The train station is a short walk from the centre, so you do not need a car at all. If your trip includes a visit to the Mezquita-Catedral, check its opening hours beforehand, as they change on those days.

Thirty-eight brotherhoods in eight days

In 2026, 38 brotherhoods made their penitential procession between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. All of them go along the official route: they pass through the surroundings of the Mezquita-Catedral and enter the Patio de los Naranjos. La Borriquita, on the morning of Palm Sunday, is the first to do so. Several brotherhoods set off each day from different neighbourhoods, so in the evening there are usually floats in the street at more than one point in the city.

Seats, boxes and passes: 2026 prices

Seats on the official route are sold by the Agrupación de Hermandades y Cofradías on its website. In 2026 season passes went on sale on 3 March, and single seats were released mid-month with whatever was left. A seat cost €22 per day, and €6 on the morning of Palm Sunday. A seat pass for the whole week was €100. Boxes were sold by pass: €320 for a four-seat box, €480 for a six-seat box and €540 for a six-seat box inside the Patio de los Naranjos. The pass keeps the same seat all week. The 2027 prices will be known when sales open.

Routes and accessibility

Each year the Agrupación publishes a booklet with the routes and times of all the brotherhoods, and a digital map, GeoPasos, with the routes. It also marks along the route the so-called blue stretches, intended for people with autism spectrum disorder.

Dates from 2027 to 2030

Holy Week depends on Easter, so it falls on different days each year. From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday: in 2027, from 21 to 28 March; in 2028, from 9 to 16 April; in 2029, from 25 March to 1 April; and in 2030, from 14 to 21 April. Each brotherhood's times and routes are published by the Agrupación de Cofradías a few months before each edition.
