What it is / What you will see

From 21 to 28 March 2027 Cabra takes to the streets with one of the oldest Holy Weeks in the Subbética, holding the title of Festival of National Tourist Interest since 1989. It is coordinated by 27 penitential brotherhoods, grouped in the Agrupación General de Hermandades y Cofradías. Among them is the Archicofradía de la Vera Cruz, documented since 1522. They process every day, from the Entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the Resucitado the following Sunday, with floats of Christ and of the Virgin through Cabra's old town. The Agrupación has already named Julio Venzalá Muñoz, a member with a long record in the life of the local brotherhoods, to give the 2027 pregón.

Getting there and tickets

The processions set off from the churches in the centre of Cabra and go through the old town. They can be watched in the street without paying. It is organised by the Agrupación General de Hermandades y Cofradías de Cabra, which publishes the timetables, the routes and the date of the pregón during Lent. Cabra is about 75 km from Córdoba on the A-45 and the A-318, just under an hour by car. Nearby are Baena, Priego and Lucena, which also have Holy Weeks with tourist declarations, so several can be combined in a single trip.
