What it is / What you will see
Holy Week in Aguilar de la Frontera, from 21 to 28 March 2027, really begins on the Friday of Sorrows with the blessing of Jesús Nazareno. Palm Sunday opens with the Entry into Jerusalem. Its hallmark is the shared official route: every brotherhood follows it, so the whole Passion can be watched from a single spot. There are brotherhoods dating from the 16th century and floats from churches such as El Carmen, El Soterraño, El Hospital, Las Descalzas and La Veracruz. Among the most sought-after sights is the climb of Jesús Caído and the Virgen de la Paz to the Torre del Reloj. Afterwards comes the Semana Santa chiquita, a children's Holy Week with more than 500 children, 24 floats and several Stations of the Cross in miniature.
Getting there and tickets
The processions go through the centre of Aguilar de la Frontera, which is closed to traffic during the official route. Everything is in the street and free. The Agrupación de Cofradías publishes the timetables during Lent and shares them on its website and social media. Aguilar is about 50 km from Córdoba on the A-45, some 40 minutes by car. It is close to Montilla, Moriles and Puente Genil, so several Holy Weeks in the Campiña can be combined.
