What it is
Holy Week in Córdoba in 2028 begins on Passion Saturday, 8 April, and ends on Easter Sunday, 16 April. The date comes from the liturgical calendar, so it is firm, although each brotherhood's times and routes are published a few weeks beforehand. Some forty brotherhoods process through the city during the week and all of them make their station of penance on the official route, set around the Mezquita-Catedral: the floats pass through the Puerta del Puente, go up Torrijos and Cardenal Herrero and enter the Patio de los Naranjos and the temple itself. Seeing a float cross the Patio de los Naranjos or the Puerta del Puente at night is one of the most sought-after sights of the week.
Getting there and tickets
The processions are watched in the street without a ticket. The old town is closed to traffic while they pass, so the easiest thing is to arrive on foot or by city bus as far as the area around the Ribera and the Puente Romano. It is worth checking the guide to times and routes published every year by the Agrupación de Cofradías and the local media, because several brotherhoods go out each day from churches in different neighbourhoods and their routes change from one year to the next.
