What it is and what to expect in 2027
The San Silvestre Cordobesa is the biggest and most festive race of the year in the city. It is always held on 31 December: the 41st was in 2025 and the 42nd on 31 December 2026, so the 43rd will see out 2027 on Friday 31. In 2025 it introduced a new route through the centre, and every year it mixes runners chasing a time with many participants in fancy dress. It is the last race of the Diputación de Córdoba's Circuito Provincial de Carreras Populares, which closes its season this way and later hands out the prizes for the overall standings at its annual gala.
Getting there and what to bear in mind
The rules for each edition, with the start time, the route, the price and the entry period, are published on carreraspopularescordoba.com, the provincial circuit's website. The 2027 start time has not yet been announced. It is worth entering in good time and bearing in mind the road closures in the centre that afternoon. Afterwards, the farewell to the year carries on in the Plaza de las Tendillas with the municipal New Year's Eve party.
