About the event
Carcabuey celebrates the Pascua de los Moraos on Easter Sunday, which in 2027 falls on 28 March. It is a carnival festival, declared of Tourist Interest of Andalusia in 2006, with opening speeches, a fancy dress contest and murgas (satirical singing groups) that review what has happened in the village during the year. Its name comes from the purple (morado) colour of the brotherhood members' robes. The date is the traditional one; there is no programme with times yet.

A carnival at Easter
When Holy Week ends, Carcabuey takes to the streets in fancy dress. The murgas sing about what has happened in the village during the year and there are speeches and a fancy dress contest. The name recalls the purple of the brotherhood members' robes.
