What it is
The Batalla de las Flores, the Battle of the Flowers, is the starting gun for Córdoba's festive May. It is held at midday on one of the last days of April or the first days of May; for 2027 Sunday 25 April is expected, pending confirmation. A dozen floats decorated with flowers go along Avenida República Argentina and the Paseo de la Victoria throwing carnations to the crowd, who throw them back in a real floral battle. In 2026 more than 80,000 carnations were handed out. It is a very family-friendly festival that welcomes spring before the Cruces, the Patios and the Feria.
Getting there and tickets
The parade is free and is watched from the pavements. In 2026 it set off at 12 noon from Avenida República Argentina and continued along the Paseo de la Victoria, so it is worth arriving early to get a spot in the front row. The area is next to the centre and can be reached on foot or by city bus. It is organised by the Federación de Peñas Cordobesas with Córdoba City Council. Note: the dates given are an estimate based on the usual calendar, not an official announcement. Before planning your trip, check for confirmation on the organiser's website, which usually publishes it a few months ahead, and book accommodation in advance if you are coming from elsewhere.
