What it is
Cosmopoética is Córdoba's international poetry festival and one of the most important literary events in Spain. It is held in autumn and lasts just over a week; for 2027 it is expected from 24 September to 2 October 2027. Its programme mixes poetry readings, conversations with fiction writers, training workshops and activities for children, so it also appeals to people who are not regular poetry readers. The 2026 edition, the 23rd, revolved around Borges and brought together more than 70 authors, among them Siri Hustvedt, John Banville, Leonardo Padura and Ana Blandiana.
Getting there and tickets
The activities are spread across cultural venues in the centre of Córdoba, such as the Teatro Góngora and the Sala Orive, and many are free to attend until full; those that require a ticket or registration are indicated in the programme. It is organised by the Delegación de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico of Córdoba City Council and the whole programme is published on cosmopoetica.es. Note: the dates given are an estimate based on the usual calendar, not an official announcement. Before planning your trip, check for confirmation on the organiser's website, which usually publishes it a few months ahead, and book accommodation in advance if you are coming from elsewhere.
