What is known about the 2027 edition
After celebrating its 40 years in 2026, the Almodóvar half marathon is heading for its 41st edition. For years the race has kept to the last Sunday of September: it was run on 29 September 2024, the 28th in 2025 and the 27th in 2026, so the likely date is Sunday 26 September 2027. It is an unusual point-to-point race: it starts in Córdoba, by Medina Azahara, and finishes in Almodóvar del Río with the castle as the landmark of the last few kilometres. Alongside the half marathon there is usually a 10K from Villarrubia and the children's fun run in Almodóvar. It is part of the Diputación's Circuito Provincial.
Getting there and what to bear in mind
The finish has been at the Alcalde Juan Moro sports centre in Almodóvar del Río, and the 2026 start was at 9 am from the Gran Pórtico of Medina Azahara. As it is a point-to-point course, you need to plan your return: leave a car in Almodóvar or use the local train. It is organised by Almodóvar del Río Town Council with technical management by MasAtletismo, where entries open in summer. The 2027 date is an estimate based on the usual calendar.
