What it is
Córdoba's Concurso Popular de Rejas y Balcones, the window grilles and balconies contest, is held at the same time as the Concurso Popular de Patios, in the middle of May's Fiesta de los Patios. The residents who take part compete by adorning the typical grilles and balconies of their homes with brightly coloured flowers, so that the festival spreads from the inner patios to the façades and the street itself. Strolling through the neighbourhoods during those two weeks lets you see façades covered in flowerpots and carnations that are part of the landscape of spring in Córdoba. In 2026 the contest was held from 4 to 17 May, and each year a map and programme is published showing the grilles and balconies taking part.
Getting there and tickets
The participating grilles and balconies are spread around the streets of Córdoba and are viewed from the public street, with no ticket needed. To tour them, the best thing is to download the map and programme published each year on the Turismo de Córdoba page and combine it with the patios route. The 2027 dates have not yet been announced; those on this page are indicative and follow those of the Fiesta de los Patios. It is organised by Córdoba City Council's Department for Promotion of the City.
