About the event
On Whit Monday, which in 2027 falls on 17 May, Villanueva de Córdoba brings the Virgen de Luna from the Santuario de la Jara to the church of San Miguel. Beforehand there is the Feria Chica (small fair) from Friday to Monday and a torchlight rosary on Sunday night. The Romerías de la Virgen de Luna have been a Bien de Interés Cultural (heritage of cultural interest) since 2026.

Bringing the Virgin
The Virgen de Luna spends some months in Pozoblanco and others in Villanueva de Córdoba, returning in between to her sanctuary in the Dehesa de la Jara. Villanueva brings her on Whit Monday and returns her on the second Sunday of October.
The route
The brotherhood carries the Virgin on a litter, with the municipal band in front. She passes the Pozo de la Legua and the Regajito, where the image of San Miguel receives her, and enters the town around 9 pm along Calle Pozoblanco to the Plaza de España. There is an offering by the children, the handing over of the staff, fireworks and the Salve.
2027 dates
The date comes from the religious calendar: in 2027 Whit Monday is 17 May and the Feria Chica would run from the 14th to the 17th. The official programme has not yet been published.
