Córdoba a century ago
José Pedro Gil Moreno de Mora (1892-1945) was born and trained in Paris, was an engineer, illustrator, and bibliophile, and worked in Córdoba between 1919 and 1930. From this period comes an extensive graphic work about the city, now one of the most notable print collections at the Museo de Bellas Artes. The exhibition «An Evening in Córdoba», open since October 8, 2026, brings together a selection of these original engravings.
What to see
The tour mixes major monuments, such as the Mezquita-Catedral, the Roman Bridge, or the Torre de la Malmuerta, with everyday corners and popular characters, all seen through an intimate and somewhat poetic lens. Gil was part of the so-called Grupo de los 24, which promoted the revival of engraving in Spain. The highlight is a copy of «Un soir à Cordoue», the bibliophile edition published in Paris in 1932 with text by Georges Grappe, limited to 152 copies and illustrated with 63 drypoint engravings by the artist.
