What it is
To mark the 900th anniversary of the birth of Ibn Rushd (Averroes), Casa Árabe is organising at its Córdoba premises a series of creative workshops for all ages, run by SextoMario. They combine art-making, craft and popular history to approach the Córdoba philosopher in a hands-on way, and each workshop includes a storytelling section that places Averroes in the Andalusi Córdoba where philosophy, science and the arts flourished. Three sessions remain this autumn: Thursday 8 October; 29 October, “El árbol del conocimiento: raíces de un pensamiento universal”; and 19 November, “Pensar como un filósofo: juegos desde Córdoba”. A good cultural plan to do with children.
Getting there and tickets
The workshops are at Casa Árabe's premises, calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9, in the heart of the Judería beside the Mezquita-Catedral, at 18:00. Tickets cost 4 euros at the venue; 3 euros if bought online, and for unemployed people, students at Casa Árabe's Centro de Lengua and Carné Joven holders. They are sold on the Casa Árabe website, on each workshop's page, or at the venue, in cash or by card. All materials are provided by the organisers. Organised by Casa Árabe.
