What you will see
The Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra is keeping its temporary exhibition “La memoria revelada de Madinat al-Zahra (1911-1983)” open until 7 October 2026. It is a journey through a selection of photographs from the site's archive, designed to show how what we know about the palace city has changed from the start of the excavations in 1911 to the 1980s. The images trace the growing importance the site has gained within the archaeology of al-Andalus, and make an intriguing counterpoint to a visit to the complex as it looks today. It is aimed at the general public and is a good extra for anyone planning to walk the ruins of Medina Azahara in the coming weeks.
Getting there and tickets
The exhibition is at the Conjunto Arqueológico Madinat al-Zahra, on the Palma del Río road, kilometre 5.5, on the outskirts of Córdoba. No advance booking is needed and entry to the exhibition is free. It can be visited during the site's opening hours until 7 October 2026. All the up-to-date information on the activity is on the site's page within the Museos de Andalucía portal. It is organised by the Junta de Andalucía's Consejería de Cultura, Patrimonio Histórico y Deporte.
