The work

Marina began life as a zarzuela in 1855 and Emilio Arrieta turned it into an opera in three acts in 1871, the version that established it as a key piece of the Spanish operatic repertoire. It tells the story of Marina, an orphan in love with Jorge in a fishing village, in a tangle of jealousy and misunderstandings. It is the production with which the Coro de Ópera de Córdoba celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Cast

Alba Chantar sings Marina; Santiago Vidal, Jorge; Alonso Cano, Roque; Julio Nomdedeu, Pascual; Juan José Reifs, Captain Alberto; Isabel López, Teresa, and Antonio Mazzini, a sailor. Alejandro Muñoz conducts the Orquesta de Córdoba and the Coro de Ópera de Córdoba, and Juan Carlos Villanueva is the stage director.
