What it is
The Centro Andaluz de las Letras holds in Córdoba a new session of its Poesía en el Centro series with the writer Joaquín Pérez Azaústre, who will read poems from his latest book, “Defender el Álamo (2018-2020)”, published by Visor and winner of the XXVIII Premio de Poesía Generación del 27. During the reading he will be joined by the writers José Daniel García and Pablo García Casado, who will offer their commentary. The collection revolves around the experience of being a father at a distance: poems written as a legacy for a son, which celebrate the beauty of life without hiding its difficulties, in a prosaic line that does not give up on lyricism. It also marks the return of the author, a cultural activist and fiction writer, to the genre he started out in.
Getting there and tickets
The reading is on Wednesday 7 October 2026 at 19:00 at the Biblioteca Pública Grupo Cántico, on avenida de América, in Córdoba. It was originally planned for 30 September and has been put back a week. Entry is free until full. It is organised by the Centro Andaluz de las Letras, part of the Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales, which takes enquiries on 951 918 064 and at cal.aaiicc@juntadeandalucia.es.
