What you'll see
The Día del Cine Español has been held every 6 October since 2021 to honour Spain's film heritage and the people who work in it; the date recalls the end of filming on “Esa pareja feliz” (1951), by Bardem and Berlanga. The Filmoteca de Andalucía marks it in Córdoba with two titles. On Tuesday 6 it screens “Angustia” (1947), by José Antonio Nieves Conde, a black-and-white thriller about a married couple drowning in debt in a boarding house, in collaboration with Filmoteca Española. On Friday 9 comes “Los santos inocentes” (1984), by Mario Camus, an adaptation of Miguel Delibes's novel about a family of farm labourers on an estate in Extremadura, in collaboration with the Filmoteca Regional de Murcia.
