The Sweet of All Saints

Gachas are the traditional sweet for All Saints’ days. Monturque, in the Campiña Sur, dedicates a provincial contest to them every year, and the sixteenth edition takes place on Monday, November 2 at 17:00 at the Town Hall. Three traditional varieties compete: gachas with fried bread pieces, grape must, and coffee, each vying for different prizes. Once the jury finishes evaluating the dishes, a public tasting opens for the audience.

How to Participate

Anyone can submit their recipe. Registration is free and open until Friday, October 30 at 13:00, either at the Town Hall or by email to turismo@monturque.es. Participants must deliver their dishes on November 2 at 16:30, half an hour before the contest. Entry is free for the public: this event is not included among the paid activities of the sessions.

The Finale of Mundamortis

The contest closes Mundamortis, the cultural and gastronomic sessions Monturque dedicates from October 30 to November 2 to funerary heritage, featuring its San Rafael Cemetery and the Roman cisterns beneath it. During these days, the Gacha Route also runs: four local bars (Bar La Esquina, Bar Polideportivo, Bar Los Faroles, and Asador Suiza El Cañuelo) serve gachas, and those who try them can enter a draw for four €50 prizes for two people. Tourist information is available via WhatsApp at 667 507 920.
