About the event
On Whit Sunday, which in 2027 falls on 16 May, Pozoblanco takes the Virgen de Luna back to the Santuario de la Jara in the farewell romería (pilgrimage). The brotherhood accompanies her with its military-style ritual, with drums, gun salutes and flags. The next day Villanueva de Córdoba collects her.

Taking her back
Pozoblanco brings the Virgen de Luna on Sexagesima Sunday, in February, and returns her to the sanctuary on Whit Sunday. Before the farewell the image spends a triduum (three days of worship) in three of the town's parishes.
A military-style ritual
The Pozoblanco brotherhood has a captain, a standard-bearing ensign and a sergeant. Along the way there are drum rolls, gun salutes at fixed points and the unfurling of flags, as well as the food cart and the ringing of the sanctuary bell.
2027 dates
