A tradition of almost thirty years
Every year, for All Saints’ Day, the Diputación de Córdoba opens its headquarters, the Palacio de la Merced, to stage José Zorrilla’s Don Juan Tenorio. It is performed by Teatro Par, directed by Antonio Barrios, and the event has been held for nearly three decades, twenty-five of them without interruption. The romantic drama of duels with Don Luis, the impossible love with Doña Inés, the ghosts, and the final redemption is seen here in an unusual way.
Theatre through the palace rooms
The charm of this staging is that the audience moves with the actors: each scene takes place in a different corner of the palace, such as the Baroque Patio, the White Patio, where the cemetery scene is set up, or the Merced church. New for 2026, the entire performance takes place on the building’s ground floor. It is the full version of the text.
Performances and invitations
There are four performances, on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1 and Monday, November 2, all at 8:30 pm. Admission is free with an invitation, which can be requested from Tuesday, October 27 at 12:00 on the Diputación’s Culture website, with a maximum of two per person. Invitations usually sell out quickly.
