Zombies in Havana
In «Juan de los Muertos», by Alejandro Brugués, a zombie plague invades Havana and rumors blame groups working for the United States. In the midst of chaos appears Juan, a hustler who starts a business to eliminate, for a modest price, the infected relatives of his clients, with a motto as dark as the film’s humor. It is a 2011 Spanish-Cuban co-production screened in the original Spanish version.
Andalusian Film Professionals
The screening is part of Andalusian Film Professionals, the program through which the Filmoteca and the Andalusian Film Academy showcase Andalusian technicians through the films they have worked on. After the screening there is a meeting with Juan Ventura Pecellín, a special effects specialist. It is a great opportunity to learn from the inside how the effects of a zombie film are made and to ask about the craft.
