What it is
The Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba, known as the 'competition of competitions', is flamenco's benchmark contest and the only one that can award national prizes. It is held every three years: the 24th edition took place in November 2025, so the 25th would be due in autumn 2028. In 2025 the selection round was held at the Teatro Góngora and the prize round and final gala at the Gran Teatro, with sections for singing, dance, guitar and, as a new feature, flamenco instrumentalists. Around a hundred artists applied to take part.
Getting there and tickets
The sessions are split between the Teatro Góngora (Calle Jesús y María) and the Gran Teatro (Avenida del Gran Capitán), both in the centre of Córdoba. Tickets are sold on entradas.teatrocordoba.es and at the theatres' box offices. It is organised by the Instituto Municipal de las Artes Escénicas (IMAE) of Córdoba City Council, which announces the rules and dates on teatrocordoba.es. Note: the dates given are an estimate based on the usual calendar, not an official announcement. Before planning your trip, check for confirmation on the organiser's website, which usually publishes it a few months ahead, and book accommodation in advance if you are coming from elsewhere.
