A very traditional village game
The Donkey's Mess is one of those popular bets that turn a venue into a large grid. The area is divided into numbered plots, a donkey is released, and the plot where the animal relieves itself wins. In Villa del Río, it is organized by Agrupación Musical Jesús Cautivo, with support from the City Council's Festivities department, to bring together locals and visitors for a different kind of day on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
Plots, prize, and rice for everyone
There are 1,000 plots at 5 euros each, and the lucky one wins a prize of 1,500 euros. Plots are sold at Estanco La Plaza, Estanco N3, Bar La Estrella 2.0, El Quiosko, and OrtizKutz. During the day, a bar with affordable prices will be open, and rice will be distributed to all attendees, so the event is also a great opportunity to eat in good company even if you don’t buy a plot.
