Hornachuelos, in the heart of Córdoba's Sierra Morena, hosts the 27th Carrera Popular Ruta de la Miel, a race that combines sport, nature and athletic tradition. The main race covers 16,500 metres from the hamlet of Céspedes to the town centre of Hornachuelos; the younger categories are run entirely within the town. It is organised by the Town Council's Sports Department with the technical collaboration of Club Atletismo Trotasierra. It is part of the Circuito Provincial de Carreras Populares 'Diputación de Córdoba' 2026, which brings together 58 races between 1 February and 31 December: 13 in the city and 45 in towns and villages across the province, with 24 races of 10 kilometres or more and 34 over shorter distances. Each race earns points towards the circuit standings, which conclude with an awards gala.
