What it is

The Tren del Jamón (Ham Train) is a new tourism product born of an agreement between Villanueva de Córdoba Town Council and Renfe. It will make a single trip, on 17 October, to bring travellers from Madrid closer to the food, nature and heritage of Villanueva de Córdoba and Los Pedroches. The programme includes the return train from Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes, coach transfers and a guided visit to a dehesa and to a ham curing house. There are tastings of acorn-fed Iberian ham and cured sausages. The tour of the town takes in the church of San Miguel, the Civil War air-raid shelter and the church of Las Obreras, among other places.

Getting there and tickets

The trip leaves on Saturday 17 October 2026 from Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes station, bound for Villanueva de Córdoba, as a return journey. It costs 100 euros for adults and 60 euros for children under 14. Tickets and timetables are on the Renfe website, in the themed trains section (renfe.com). It is organised by Renfe and Villanueva de Córdoba Town Council.
