What it is / What you will see
The temporary exhibition “Tesorillo hispanomusulmán del teatro romano” brings together a selection of coins from a small hoard made up of more than 600 silver dirhams. They were hidden during one of the most unstable periods of al-Andalus and stayed buried for centuries until they were discovered in 1986 among the ruins of Córdoba's old Roman theatre, on top of which the museum stands. The pieces were minted between 928 and 1020, that is, from the early years of the caliphate of Abd al-Rahman III to almost its end. The display offers a glimpse of the monetary history of the Córdoba caliphate through a local find, in a short visit that can be combined with the rest of the museum.
Getting there and tickets
The coins are on display in the foyer of the Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico de Córdoba and the exhibition can be visited until 25 October 2026. The listing gives the Sunday opening hours, from 09:00 to 15:00; for other days it is worth checking the museum's general opening hours. The source mentions neither a price nor any need to book. The display is small and sits in the foyer itself, so it does not take long to see.
