A century of La Rambla clay

The La Rambla pottery and ceramics competition was founded in 1926 at the initiative of the local Ateneo and is the oldest ceramics competition in Spain. It has only been interrupted by the Civil War and the pandemic. To celebrate its centenary, the Fundación Rafael Botí brings to Córdoba works awarded over these hundred years, which tell how the town went from white clay pitchers and botijo water jugs to contemporary creation.

What you will see

The exhibition is arranged in three sections: traditional unglazed biscuit pottery; traditional and decorated ceramics, with techniques ranging from Hispano-Moorish to sgraffito; and new forms, with stoneware, porcelain or wood firing. It also recalls the arrival of glazing around 1930 and the role of the women decorators, now recognised as a craft trade. From 27 October to 22 November 2026 on the second floor of the Centro de Arte Rafael Botí, calle Manríquez, 5, in the Judería. Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 20:30, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 14:00, and closed on Mondays.
