What you will see
The Ballet de l'Opéra national de Bordeaux presents its new production of Le Corsaire, premiered in 2025 and filmed at the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux. The choreography is by the former étoile dancer José Carlos Martínez, who rereads Marius Petipa's original with a more fluid dramaturgy without giving up the spectacle of the big ensemble numbers. The music brings together scores by Adolphe Adam, Léo Delibes, Riccardo Drigo and Cesare Pugni. Inspired by Lord Byron's poem The Corsair, the ballet follows the corsair Conrad in his struggle to rescue Medora, amid shipwrecks, slave markets and oriental palaces. Marini da Silva Vianna, Riku Ota and Perle Vilette de Callenstein lead the cast.
