What you will see
Inspired by an episode from Cervantes's novel, the ballet Don Quixote follows Kitri and Basilio, two young lovers who get round every obstacle in order to marry while the knight and Sancho cross La Mancha. This production, created for the 2023/24 season, is the Ballet de l'Opéra national de Bordeaux's first venture into the work and bears the signature of the Spanish choreographer José Carlos Martínez, who starts from Petipa and Gorsky to give a more theatrical and dynamic version. The music is by Ludwig Minkus and the cast is led by Diane Le Floc'h as Kitri, Riku Ota as Basilio and Marc-Emmanuel Zanoli as Don Quixote. Humour, romance and virtuosity with a Spanish flavour.
