What you will see
The Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker is one of the Royal Opera House's Christmas classics. This production by Peter Wright, with choreography after Lev Ivanov, designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman and music by Tchaikovsky, was captured live in December 2025. Charlotte Politi conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House; Marianna Tsembenhoi is Clara, Taisuke Nakao the Nutcracker, Mayara Magri the Sugar Plum Fairy and Reece Clarke her prince. The story begins on Christmas Eve, when Clara receives a mysterious present that leads her to a fantasy world, to the battle against the Mouse King and to the Kingdom of Sweets. An ideal plan for a family outing in early December.
