What it is

“Camina por tu Salud” is the autumn walking series organised by the local board of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) in Rute, now in its fifth edition. It offers twelve weekly routes of moderate physical exercise designed for discovering the natural heritage and landscapes of the town and its hamlets. The calendar began on 16 September in Rute Viejo and continues with the Mirador del Pamplinar, Las Piedras, La Gitana, Rosa Alta, La Hoz and Tajo Cortado, Fuente Alta, the Pantano, La Teja, La Vichena and Las Pilas, on the Cerro de la Higuera, before finishing on 2 December at El Torcal de Antequera. It is open to any local resident, whatever their age or physical condition.

Getting there and registration

The walks are every Wednesday from 9:00 in the morning and set off, alternately, from Rute's Barrio Bajo or Barrio Alto. To guarantee participants' safety and insurance cover, you must register beforehand on the AECC's freephone number, 900 10 00 36. It is organised by the AECC's local board in Rute, which this autumn is also preparing events for World Breast Cancer Day (19 October) and two health talks in November.
