Puente Genil's Hermandad del Calvario takes the Virgen del Consuelo out in an extraordinary procession for the 50th anniversary of her blessing. She is an anonymous dolorosa of the 17th-18th centuries, linked to the Granada school. The Agrupación Musical Nuestro Padre Jesús de los Afligidos leads the procession.

In 1976 Puente Genil's Hermandad del Calvario blessed Nuestra Madre y Señora del Consuelo as one of its titular images, an anonymous dolorosa (sorrowing Virgin) of the 17th-18th centuries associated with the Granada school. That same year the brotherhood moved its penitential procession from Good Friday to Holy Tuesday. Fifty years on, the Virgin goes out in an extraordinary procession through the streets of the Mananta. For the occasion the silver-plated metalwork of her float is being restored, with funding from the Provincial Council. The Agrupación Musical Nuestro Padre Jesús de los Afligidos will lead the procession behind the guiding cross. The brotherhood presents it as a historic event for the town.
Getting there and tickets
The procession is on Saturday 24 October in Puente Genil, about 70 km from Córdoba on the A-45 and the A-318. The brotherhood has not yet published the time or the route: check the local media in the days beforehand. It is a religious event in the street, free and with no ticket. Until then, the exhibition "Calvario y Consuelo, arte y devoción", devoted to this brotherhood, can be seen in the Sala Cultural of the Mercado de Abastos. It is organised by Puente Genil's Hermandad del Calvario.
