What it is / What you will see
La Rambla has a big day for its cofradías: the Virgen de la Esperanza turns one hundred and her brotherhood, the Vera Cruz, takes her out in a special procession. At midday there is a votive mass in the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. In the afternoon, the procession follows a route devised for the occasion: Jesús, Labradores, Barriollano, Empedrada, Cruz Verde, Paseo de la Cultura, Llano del Convento and Paseo de España, among other streets. There are two moments not to miss: the Esperanza's first visit to the Las Casas Nuevas neighbourhood and her meeting with the Virgen de los Dolores at the convent church, something not seen there since 2010. The music is from the Asociación Musical Ecijana (AMUECI).
Getting there and tickets
The procession leaves at 18:00 from the plaza Hermanas Mercedarias, in La Rambla, about 45 km from Córdoba on the A-45 and the A-386. It is a public event in the street, free and with no ticket. The votive mass beforehand is at 12:00 in the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Anyone wishing to accompany the Virgin in a black mantilla or carrying a candle had to sign up between 2 and 8 October at the Benedicto XVI parish hall. It is organised by the Hermandad Sacramental de la Vera Cruz de La Rambla.
