What it is
It is the first anniversary of the death of Antonio Fernández Díaz, “Fosforito”, the great figure of flamenco from Puente Genil. The Asociación Amigos de Puente Genil pays tribute to him with a discussion at the Casino Liceo Pontanés. Two voices who know his legacy well will speak: the flamenco scholar Juan Ortega Chacón and the singer Vicente Cáceres Estrada. The event is chaired by Álvaro de la Fuente Espejo, the association's president. It is an occasion to remember the artist on home ground, among enthusiasts and neighbours, through those who have studied and sung his work. Puente Genil also keeps his memory alive in the museum dedicated to Fosforito and Niño Hierro and in his statue on the Paseo del Romeral.
Getting there and tickets
The discussion is on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 12:30 at the Casino Liceo Pontanés, in the centre of Puente Genil. Admission is free until the venue is full, so it is worth arriving a little early. The Casino Pontanés has also hosted activities by the Aula Flamenca Fosforito, which bears the singer's name. It is organised by the Asociación Amigos de Puente Genil, and the event appears in the official listings of Turismo de Puente Genil (visitpuentegenil.es).
