Puente Genil Town Council has set Sunday 31 January 2027 for its half marathon, one of the town's most important sporting dates. Entries will open in early autumn, when the poster is presented. The 2026 edition drew 536 runners, two out of three of them from elsewhere.

What it is
The Media Maratón Villa de Puente Genil is the town's big date for mass-participation running. In 2027 it reaches its 37th edition. The councillor for Sport, Rafael Ruiz, announced the date many months ahead: Sunday 31 January 2027. He explained that runners plan their season well in advance and need clear dates. According to a study by the University of Córdoba (CAPT-UCO and the SEJ-588 group), the edition of 1 February 2026 drew 536 participants. Two out of three came from outside the town. The race generated a direct economic impact of almost 115,000 euros, more than five times what was invested in it. In addition, 93.75% of runners said they would take part again.
How to take part
The race takes place on Sunday 31 January 2027 in Puente Genil and is organised by the Town Council, through its Sports Department. According to the council, entries will open in early autumn 2026, when the official poster is presented. The start time, the route and the entry fee have not yet been published, so check Puente Genil's municipal sports channels once registration opens.
