What you will hear
The eleventh subscription programme brings the pulse of today's Latin American music. On the bill are Alegría for orchestra, by the Puerto Rican Roberto Sierra, and Áurea, a concertante rhapsody for clarinet and orchestra by the Venezuelan Pacho Flores, with Juan Ferrer as soloist; both works are first performances for the Orquesta de Córdoba. It closes with Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 7, the darkest and most combative of his symphonies, with which he asserted the voice of Czech music. The conductor is Manuel Hernández-Silva, whose return as guest conductor Salvador Vázquez highlights in his welcome to the season.
