An autumn tradition returns to the streets

In Iznájar, at All Saints, it was customary to hollow out a melon, carve its rind with designs, and place a candle inside to turn it into a lantern. These lanterns were placed on windows, grilles, lintels, and next to saints’ niches. The Town Hall revives the tradition with a gathering where each participant brings their own, with any theme and design they want, in a night walk designed for families.

Friday the 30th program

The afternoon begins at 17:00 at Peña Madridista El Biombo with a hot chocolate and snack benefiting the AECC Local Board, to which you can contribute with a donation or by bringing milk, chocolate, or a sweet. At 18:00 the lantern walk starts from Plaza de Abastos, goes through several streets of the town, and ends with a visit to the castle.

How to participate

The activity is free, but you must register before October 29 via the form published by the Iznájar Town Hall on its website. All registered participants receive a gift from the organizers. For more information, the Casa Ciudadana de Iznájar answers inquiries. The walk is a great excuse to go up with children to the Barrio de la Villa and see the town lit up differently on the eve of the long weekend.
