What it is
The Belén de Chocolate de Rute, a nativity scene made of chocolate, is one of the best-known Christmas traditions in the province. It is made every year by Galleros Artesanos, a company that has been crafting it by hand for decades, and this edition unveils a new theme with a piece of more than 50 square metres built from some 1,500 kilos of chocolate. It is very much a family outing, usually combined with a stroll around the town and the rest of Rute's sweet-making museums, and a good excuse to get to know the Subbética at the height of the Christmas season.
Getting there
The nativity scene can be visited from 12 October 2026 to 5 January 2027 at the Galleros Artesanos premises in Rute (Córdoba). The source gives neither the 2026 opening hours nor the ticket price, so it is worth checking them on the official Belén de Chocolate website before planning your visit, especially over long weekends and public holidays.
