About the event
The Rücker Big Band Córdoba, the big band of the Conservatorio Superior de Música «Rafael Orozco», presents «Ecos de Soul & Swing» on Sunday 25 October at 13:00 at the Cine Fuenseca. It is the closing concert of the 12th Qurtuba Jazz, organised by Córdoba City Council, and entry is free while seats last.

The close of the 12th Qurtuba Jazz
Qurtuba Jazz, the jazz festival run by Córdoba City Council's culture department, reaches its 12th edition from 16 to 25 October. The last concert on the programme is on Sunday 25 at 13:00 at the Cine Fuenseca, with the Rücker Big Band Córdoba and its show «Ecos de Soul & Swing». Like every other concert in the festival except the one at the Teatro Góngora, entry is free while seats last, so it is worth arriving early to get a seat.
The Conservatory's big band
The Rücker Big Band is the big band of Córdoba's Conservatorio Superior de Música «Rafael Orozco». It was founded in 2002 and is part of the ensemble music course in the conservatory's higher studies, so students face situations very close to those of a professional musician. This year it is conducted by Lucía A. Moreno Sanz. It follows the classic big band line-up: saxophone, trumpet and trombone sections plus a rhythm section with piano, guitar, double bass or bass guitar, drums and percussion.
Soul and swing at midday
With «Ecos de Soul & Swing», the big band promises a repertoire full of rhythm that runs through the jazz, soul and swing tradition. Over the years it has played swing, classic jazz, bebop, Latin jazz, funk, Brazilian music and fusion, and has put on themed shows such as one devoted to Frank Sinatra. The Cine Fuenseca is on the plaza de la Fuenseca, in the city centre, and the midday slot makes it a good Sunday plan to round off the festival.
