An Afternoon of Gachas
Valsequillo keeps one of its autumn traditions alive with the 26th Gastronomic Showcase and Gachas Contest, held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall. Neighbors bring their homemade gachas recipes, a jury selects the best, and in the end, everyone can try them: more than a contest, it’s a village snack gathering.
Contest and Prizes
Dishes are delivered from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. There are two categories: adults, with prizes of €35, €25, and €20, and youth, ages 12 to 18, with prizes of €20 and €15; all participants receive a small gift. To enter, you had to pick up the official dish at the Town Hall, one per household, between October 13 and 27. While the jury deliberates, singer Laura Larrea performs copla and AMPA Valseca runs the bar service. The afternoon ends with free tasting of all submitted gachas. Entry is free for anyone who wants to come and enjoy the afternoon among neighbors.
