What you'll see
Martirio, the stage name of Maribel Quiñones (Huelva, 1954), premieres La flor cantada in Córdoba, a show commissioned by the Festival FLORA. The thread running through the repertoire is the plant world: songs about flowers and plants, which she introduces by telling the origin and meaning of each one. Jesús Lavilla accompanies her on piano, and together they travel through bolero, tango and copla with songs she had never sung live. Martirio, who started out in Jarcha and Veneno and has shared a stage with Chavela Vargas and Silvia Pérez Cruz, holds the Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales (2016) and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes (2019).
