Jerez Christmas Comes to Los Califas
Singer María José Santiago brings her Zambomba de Jerez to Córdoba on Saturday, December 12 at 21:00. The show captures the spirit of the zambombas, one of Jerez de la Frontera's most cherished Christmas celebrations, with carols, flamenco, and the feeling of a shared festivity. Tickets went on sale October 2, and the event is suitable for all audiences.
An Artist Connected to Christmas
Born in Jerez and daughter of singer Diego Santiago Vargas, María José Santiago gained recognition early in singing contests, and by age 15 was a regular at flamenco clubs. In 1981, she won the Televisión Española contest "Gente Joven" in the copla category. In 1982, she recorded the album "Tierra de Jerez" with Lola Flores, La Paquera, José Mercé, and La Macanita, where she first performed "Su carita divina," the Christmas carol by Antonio Gallardo Molina that became a staple in her repertoire. In 2018, she released "Navidad flamenca de Oriente a Jerez."
In the Covered Space of the Bullring
The concert takes place at the Córdoba Auditorium Club, the new covered venue installed in the Plaza de Toros Los Califas, on Gran Vía Parque avenue, to continue the concert series during autumn and winter.
