What it is
Los hermanos is a comedy by Terence that asks which upbringing works better: a strict, rigid one or a liberal, open one. In this version, the two models are embodied by Démesa and Miccióna, two older sisters of opposite temperament. The first is a strict mother to her sons Esquino and Ctesifonte; the second, a jovial, permissive spinster who has adopted Esquino. When Esquino carries off the courtesan Báquide, everyone thinks the worst, although in fact he does it for his shy brother. In the end everything is cleared up and each young man marries the one he loves. Chiqui Carabante directs and the cast includes Cristina Medina, Santiago Molero, Mari Paz Sayago, Rocío Galán, Josu Eguskiza, Jasio Velasco and Falín Galán.
