All the information

About the event
The Red Municipal de Bibliotecas launches a new season of its literary walks: 13 strolls around Córdoba reading and discussing a book in the places where it is set. The first, on “El cirujano de Al-Ándalus” by Antonio Cavanillas de Blas, is on Saturday 17 October, with a preliminary meeting on the 16th at Casa Árabe.
Key points
- First walk: “El cirujano de Al-Ándalus”, Saturday 17 October
- Groups of 15, book lent by the library
- Half the walks, with Casa Árabe
What it is
“Leer y Pasear” combines a book club with a city walk: the group reads a book and then, on a Saturday morning, tours the places in Córdoba that appear in it, reading and discussing passages on the exact spot that inspired the author. For the 2026-2027 season the Red Municipal de Bibliotecas is expanding the programme to 13 walks, half of them in collaboration with the Casa Árabe de Córdoba and focused on works set in the Andalusi period. They are led by Matilde Cabello and Máximo Ortega. The first walk follows “El cirujano de Al-Ándalus”, by Antonio Cavanillas de Blas, and whenever possible the book's author is invited to the meeting or the walk.
How to sign up
Taking part is free; all you need is a Red de Bibliotecas Públicas de Andalucía library card, which you can get when you register. There are 15 places per walk and registration opens each month for each route, with priority for anyone who has not taken part before; everyone else goes on a waiting list. The library lends the book around 30 days beforehand. The first walk is on Saturday 17 October, with a preliminary meeting on Friday 16 at 19:30 at Casa Árabe (calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9). The form for the second walk opens on 1 October at 10:00.
