About the event
The II Priego Crime Fiction Conference takes place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7:00 pm at the Centro de Arte Adolfo Lozano Sidro, as part of the VII Semana de Ánimas. Criminologist Manuel Moreno (7:15 pm) and Sevillian writer Fernando Repiso (8:00 pm) will each give a talk followed by a Q&A, and there will be a book sales point. Price to be confirmed.

Crime Fiction at the Semana de Ánimas
Priego de Córdoba repeats its Crime Fiction Conference in 2026, which began last year as a sister event to the established Historical Novel Conference. It is part of the VII Semana de Ánimas and takes place on Friday, October 30 at the Centro de Arte Adolfo Lozano Sidro. It is organized by the Heritage and Tourism Promotion Area of the City Council and the Literature Classroom, with the collaboration of Imprenta Rojas and the Adolfo Lozano Sidro Foundation. The afternoon is presented by Manuel Molina and María Mosquera.
Program: from the lab to literature
The session opens at 7:00 pm. At 7:15 pm, criminologist and professor Manuel Moreno explains how a real case is analyzed in his talk “Crime Scene: Investigation and Reconstruction.” At 8:00 pm, Sevillian writer Fernando Repiso, author of “Manual para construir un infierno” and “Agujas de la noche plateada,” speaks on “Cursed Souls: the New Andalusian Crime Fiction,” about the genre’s evolution and the role of Andalusian authors. Each talk ends with a Q&A with the audience.
Books and admission
During the conference there will be a book sales point, so it’s a good chance to get a signed novel. The organizers have not published the price or whether reservations are needed; activities requiring registration for the Semana de Ánimas are announced on the City Council and Priego Tourism channels. That Friday, the Semana de Ánimas also offers, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm, a scary crafts workshop at the Zona Joven in the Palenque building.
