What it is
Rafael Álvarez, ‘El Brujo’, comes to Montoro with a show in which he presents himself as a bululú, a lone strolling player, and turns the stage into his own journey through the theatres where the vestiges of the Spanish Golden Age are still celebrated. Through a loa by Lope de Vega, his memories move across the stage. He himself explains that he struck fire on the anvil of the texts, like Vulcan, and earned them by the sweat of his brow. Lope, Quevedo, Cervantes, the mystics, Shakespeare and Calderón have nourished him, and those texts have been his prayers. Recommended for adult audiences.
