What it is
El enfermo imaginario, Molière's The Imaginary Invalid, comes to the Teatro Avanti in a modern and entertaining adaptation by the company Teatro Eärendil. Its protagonist is a man obsessed with illness, convinced that he suffers from all sorts of strange ailments, who lives surrounded by opportunistic doctors, absurd treatments and health apps that only feed his paranoia. As he tries to control his family's life and marry his daughter off to a doctor, the tangles, lies and madcap situations turn his house into utter chaos. With plenty of humour and present-day references, this version pokes fun at the obsession with health and argues that, sometimes, the best medicine is to laugh at yourself. It is a Saturday-night show.
