Conoce tu provincia: Vinum et Aqua route in Monturque

About the event

A free 6.8 km guided walk (medium difficulty, with steep climbs) in the Diputación de Córdoba's Conoce tu provincia 2026-2027 campaign, with a coach from the Plaza de Colón. It includes a visit to the Roman cisterns.

Key points

  • Roman cisterns and cryptoporticus
  • 6.8 km, medium difficulty, with steep climbs
  • Free with coach from Córdoba; 50 places

What it is and what you will see

Monturque sits on an outlier, a plateau-shaped hill that withstood the erosion of the Campiña, and this route covers it from bottom to top. It climbs Calle Reyes Católicos to the Paseo de La Plancha and, through steep streets, reaches the upper part, where the cryptoporticus of the Los Paseíllos archaeological site and the castle keep stand. It then comes down Calle Séneca past remains of the old medieval fortress. The accompanying visit is to the Roman cisterns of Monturque, one of the most striking hydraulic complexes in the province.

Getting there and registration

The coach leaves from the forecourt of the Diputación car park, in the Plaza de Colón in Córdoba, on Saturday 20 March 2027, bound for Monturque. The approximate timetable is departure at around 8:30 am and return at about 6 pm, to be specified for each route. It is free and includes coach, guides, insurance and leaflet. Registration is individual, through a web form that opens at 8 am on the Monday of that week and closes once 50 places and 30 reserve places are filled; maximum 8 routes per person. Information: 957 211 322.
