What it is and what you'll see
The second outing of the Provincial Council's Conoce tu provincia campaign, this time to Los Pedroches. The route starts next to the old Conquista station and makes use of the line of the railway that linked Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo with Puertollano, whose last section opened in 1924 and was the only one to be electrified. From there it heads straight into the holm oak dehesa, passes through the spot known as El Cendajo, with a panel explaining Sierra Madrona, and continues along the Camino de las Herrerías past structures cut into the rock and an old pigsty. The itinerary skirts the edge of a Special Area of Conservation and ends with a visit to the Casa de la Cultura and the Albergue Municipal.
